Scott is the Biggest Loser

I know, I know, this is something alot of you have been saying since, oh, 1989 or so. The rest of you are saying it enough now to catch up I'm sure. But that is beside the point.

As you loyal readers of my wife's blog have read, she has started a diet to lose a little bit of weight that we've both put on in the past year. But don't worry folks, she's not doing it all alone, her hubby is along for the ride as well.

Believe it or not, I was the first to start our new diet around the beginning of the year. I made one of my all too rare trips to the gym at work, and stepped on a scale for the first time in a long time. I was pretty shocked to see that I weighed more than I did when I went on a major diet around 5 years ago or so, so I knew it was time for me to do something about it again.

Now I already know what you are saying, you're saying "Why mess with perfection?" Well, believe it or not, I was actually around 40 pounds over where I would ideally like to be, and if you believe those government guidelines, I was around 50 pounds overweight. Yes, these are the same standards that say I am OBESE, but Michael Jordan also was considered obese in his prime according to those standards. Go figure.

But as I said, I started the diet around the start of the year. I'm basically just trying to stick to a low fat diet, as in my goal is to eat less than 10 grams of fat every day. It's actually not the hardest diet in the world to follow, it just takes some alterations to what I'd usually eat. Must be working, believe it or not, I've already lost around 15 pounds since the start of the year!

I'm pretty much doing this to avoid any future heart problems I could inherit from my family, and so that Bella has a Daddy to nearly give heartattacks to 15 or 16 years from now when she starts dating boys. I think I even just had a mini-tremor typing that out. But wish me luck, I'm almost halfway to my goal, so we've got a few months to make it through still.

And just to prove to you all how serious I am, I've actually eaten salads. Yes, I, Mookiedaddy, have been eating salads. I will leave you with that shocking thought.
